Weakest Lynx is the first book in a series of stories about a young woman with latent psychic abilities and a penchant for getting herself in trouble. Lexi stars in this series about mayhem and criminal conspiracies and is a mostly believable character; but reading a psychic action book is about suspending your disbelief and just enjoying the story – and it was a good story. There is some action in the book, a few emotional scenes and a lot of story setup for continuation of the series.
I don’t think the author intended for this to be a gender-specific book, I’m a guy and I enjoyed it. I only bring that up because I know that as a reader, when I see a female lead on a book cover, authored by a woman, and the description talks about love and finding herself, I feel like the book is geared towards women and there will be more scenes about feelings than there will be about other stuff. Not so with Weakest Lynx. There’s a lot of story going on and the emotional aspect is tied in well and definitely isn’t the centerpiece of what’s happening.
I wouldn’t have read this book if it hadn’t been recommended by a friend and it wasn’t available for download under the Kindle Unlimited program, it’s just not my usual genre of reading. That being said, I still liked it and I would recommend it to other readers, so that should say something of its quality. I actually read this book after I read Books 2 & 3 and I really liked 2 & 3 better than 1. Not to say that 1 isn’t a good story, but if you read this book and aren’t sure if you want to move on to book 2, you really should.
I think that’s why I can only give this book 4-Stars instead of 5, because books 2 & 3 are 5-Star books and this one was just wasn’t when compared. Regardless, if this book is anywhere near your usual genre of reading, you won’t be disappointed with your purchase – so go download it and enjoy!
