The premise is novel and I’ll be interested to see what he does in the future with the protagonist.
The author mentions in the forward that despite his law-enforcement experience, he’s not versed in the world of NYPD. As an officer myself, I don’t know anything about NYPD procedures either, but I certainly didn’t see anything show-stopping about the generic police work. I had a few niggles when the Feds showed up but they were minor.
The editing was very good. I’m pretty sure I noticed a few minor issues, but I can’t really remember anything specific so we can put editing in the win column.
As far as the story goes…I liked it. We’ve got a little-known but real medical condition, a woman serial killer, good use of current technology, and interesting characters.
So, competent technical writing skills, good editing, and a great story. Check, check, and check.
