Apple TV 4K Remote Case

Are you tired of putting your remote down on the couch only to have your kids or dogs step/sit/hit/lay on it causing your program to fast forward, jump to the end, turn off, switch apps, etcetera? So was I; that's why I created this case for my Apple TV 4K (3rd Gen) remote.

Is it bulky? Yes. Is it rigid? Yes. Is it larger than most other 3rd party cases? Again - yes. But does it protect the buttons in a way that no other case on the market does? Resoundingly yes!

This case comes in three pieces along with two M2x12 stainless steel bolts. Your remote slides into the case, the top slider is inserted into the interior rails, then the tail cap is placed and the M2 bolts tighten it in place. The rear of the tail cap has an opening that allows charging of the remote without having to remove it from the case. This opening works for both the lightning adapter and the USB-C adapter versions of this remote. The front face has an opening for IR signals to be sent without obstruction.

This case has been drop-tested from 6 feet onto a ceramic tile floor with no damage to the case or the remote. The tests have been performed with each of the three types of plastic this remote can be made with.

TPU: This is the recommended material and what I personally have for my many Apple TV remotes. More flexible/rubbery material that can be printed in a variety of ways to make it more or less squishy. There are fewer color choices than either PLA or PETG and they are not shiny, but they work the best for this particular application.

I struck the case with an 8-pound sledgehammer multiple times and was not able to break it, whereas the PLA case broke after two strikes. It should be noted that I have thrown the PLA case against my ceramic floors without it cracking. It should be doubly noted that I did NOT perform these tests with the remote inside the case so I am not claiming the case will protect the remote from this type of repeated and heavy abuse.

PLA: This is a more rigid plastic that comes in a lot of different colors and is easy to print great-looking finished products. It is more susceptible to cracking when struck or dropped but will hold up under normal everyday non-abusive use. It also has more color choices than the other materials, including shiny silks like the silver in the main photograph.

PETG: A very tough and UV-resistant material that can handle drops, strikes, and twisting better than PLA. For this particular product, it won't make much of a difference in your case's longevity unless you plan on repeatedly and constantly dropping your remote onto hard surfaces. There are fewer color choices but the colors that are available tend to be a little more shiny than normal PLA but less shiny than silk.

This case will fit the second and third-generation Apple TV 4K remote. This is the silver version with the Siri button on the side.
